Daniel Scott, MA
Educator | Artist | Set Designer

I am an educator, artist, and set designer with over 25 years of experience across leading schools, international creative institutions, and professional theatre. My work is grounded in the belief that cross-disciplinary learning—where art, science, design, and storytelling meet—is essential to cultivating imaginative, adaptive, and future-ready minds.

Educator
As former Head of Art at Stowe School, I led one of the UK’s most successful art departments. 85% of A-level students achieved A or A* grades, and every student who applied to tertiary education—typically around 50% of the cohort—was accepted into their first-choice institution. These included students pursuing fine art, architecture, interior design, and theatre design at institutions such as The Slade School of Fine Art, Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London, and the Architectural Association.

I currently teach at Wellington College Bangkok and have held senior academic positions at Marlborough College Malaysia, The British School of Milan, and the Istituto Europeo di Design in Barcelona. With the support of Wellington College and The Bridge (its innovation and research hub), I am developing doctoral research into how cross-disciplinary learning can transform secondary education. I am currently seeking further academic affiliation and support from institutions such as Durham University and King’s College London to help scale this work and embed it into wider pedagogical and policy conversations.

I also offer private tutoring for GCSE, A-level, IB, and art school applicants, with a focus on portfolio development, conceptual thinking, and narrative clarity. My mentoring supports students in developing both technical ability and creative independence.

Artist
My sculptural practice explores the relationship between geology and emotion through ephemeral works—casting ice into ceramic moulds to create delicate, time-sensitive forms. These meditations on fragility, transformation, and memory operate at the edge of materiality, encouraging reflection on the human and environmental condition.

Set Designer
Trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (MA Theatre Design), I have created stage environments for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Opera House, and the Bristol Old Vic. My design work is immersive and metaphor-driven, combining spatial awareness with strong narrative and visual clarity. This theatrical sensibility informs both my educational work and sculptural practice.

Creative Thinking for Business
Building on my experience across education, design, and the arts, I now work with businesses and organisations to enhance creative and critical thinking through bespoke workshops and strategic consulting. My cross-disciplinary methodology draws from studio practice, theatre collaboration, and systems thinking—helping teams to reframe challenges, strengthen visual communication, and unlock innovation.
Workshops such as Bridge of Trust, Cardboard Urbanism, and The Architecture of Attention use hands-on creative processes to explore leadership, team dynamics, and strategic visioning. These sessions are ideal for corporate retreats, innovation teams, and leadership training seeking to deepen insight through creative engagement.
